Dear Friends,
Our days are growing shorter, with daylight lingering
pale at
midafternoon. Tis the season of igniting the
inner light, with glowing embers of prayer and
thanksgiving for all we have reaped this year. As we
move into the season of inner light, I watch my
prayer flags touched by the winds of spirit, and my
heart swells with gratitude for all the gifts of this
past year.
Offering of Prayer Flags
Great Spirit, Mother Earth, Power of the Four Winds,
All the Elemental Energies that surround me and
guide me,
Be with me as I offer my prayer-filled flags to the
wind.
I place my intent to bring the power of intuitive
prayer into my life,
To activate my higher mind, my wisdom belly, and my
compassionate heart.
May the Spirited Horse of prayer ride steady and
strong,
Uplifting all beings to the experience of perfect
health, happiness, and fulfillment.
May all of creation live in harmony, peace, and in
service to the highest good of all.
With these prayer flags of color and powerful
symbology,
I offer blessings to all who touch the wind.

During our Autumn online course relating to the
Inner Adult, we hung prayer flags outdoors that were
devoted to the power of intuitive prayer. We
courted the winds of
spirit to fill them with its song. When we tied our
flags to a
pole or tree branch, we did it with the intent to bring
the power of intuitive prayer into our consciousness.
The prayer I expressed above offers my intent at the
moment I tied my prayer flags to my dogwood tree.
"Lungta" is a Tibetan word for prayer flags which
means Wind Horse. Prayer flags are tied outdoors to
trees, poles and temple roofs as gifts to the winds of
spirit. When the wind flutters a prayer flag, it is like
thoughts tracing along the synapses of our minds.
When I watch my prayer flags dancing in the wind,
I'm reminded of my flashes of momentary prayers
that drift on the edges of my daily thoughts and
concerns. Like our thoughts, wind is a force that
awakens the prayers contained in the flags.
With time and the elemental forces, prayer flags fade
in color and fray on the ends. Like our lives, even
our prayers are impermanent in this realm of physical
life. Until we are called home to spirit, the wheel of
life teaches us that all is temporary. Our prayers can
fade too with the impermanence of our emotions and
intent. It is hard to remain steadfast to our lofty
hopes and aspirations when the forces of life
challenge us, distracting us from our prayerful
intent. I look at the frayed edges of the cloth and
am reminded of those times when I feel worn and
threadbare. Yet, the winds of spirit still blow through
me, no matter my condition.
Remembering our spirit is the reason for this season,
but too often, we become caught up in the headlines
of holiday activity that barrage our sensibilities.
Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving is the
busiest
and most colossal shopping day of the year.
Newspapers reported long lines of shoppers
awaiting the predawn store openings.
One holiday's light is barely snuffed out before the
next one presses its weight upon us. There is a
buzz in the air that is contagious, like a virus that
infects so many with the frenzy to get out and
go get it. What are we getting? What is the point
of all the shopping and consuming? It all begins to
blur and fray at the edges as we take this season's
greetings and grind it into a momentary arcane
gander at humanity's need for fever over what was
meant to be a holy, joyous, and reflective time of
year.
No matter how stressed or weary or threadbare our
energy becomes, the winds of spirit blow through us
during this season of light, softly and sometimes
strongly reminding us of the ever presence of spirit
sprinkled among the swirls of chaos and frenzy we
create.
With the Solstice comes the return of the Sun's light,
bringing renewal, regeneration of our hopes and
dreams for the coming year. The winds of spirit are
constant my friends, and it is time to take stock, to
take that
moment of silence and wonder, so we can feel our
truest nature and spiritual calling. Look up to the
Pleiades,
twinkling at fullrise this time of year. Look to the
lights on the trees and holiday decor and take a
moment, a long deep breath of remembering your
inner light.

Landings, The Spiritual Return to Living Fully in
the
Body, by Margaret Hart Lewis.
Here's what some readers have to say so far...
"As I began reading Landings I knew this would be a
book I would share with two of my very dear friends,
who I know will benefit greatly from all it has to
offer. I also have come to realize that even now, I
put glue inside of me to block the flow of information
regarding traumatic memories. Recent memories of
trauma rather than so long ago. It is a gift to have
this knowledge, and a challenge to begin to get rid of
this glue." -- Jan Samo
"Half way through this amazing journey, I can't seem
to put the book down and when I do, it calls me back
from across the room. I am so filled with all the
possibilities whose gateways you have shined a light
on. There are so many chapters that could become
entire books." -- Vicki Dobbs
"I love the structure, the depth of insight, and how
the two healers worked together. To me, Landings
felt balanced, a real world application of spiritual
teachings. I can't wait to see what Margaret does
with this book...class-wise... The Tree of Life/chakra
vices and virtues section is a small portion of the
book with big impact. The section on
teacher/apprentice was excellent, as well as giving a
clear example of the responsibility of the apprentice."-
- Emily Blair
"Reading this book gave me such an interactive
feeling of being cared for and of being healed right
along with the main character, Jesse. Landings is
empowering. The author extends a "rose compass" to
the reader, by which we can actually map out and
use the Spiritual teachings in our day to day lives." --
Jan West Volpe
"There were so many clues that were connections for
me. I have always felt I lived in two worlds, always
having to choose. But, then you also mentioned
things that are so very personal to me like Home, the
fracturing, the black pearl, the tree of life, the pillar
and many other things that symbolized for me the
connectedness I have with your message. My soul
purpose has been discovered - to mature my spirit.
To move from the child of manifestation into a spirit
of maturity, where I can now use what I know and
pass on what I've learned and love what I have and
have lost." -- Candice McCreery
"Landings shows that multiple approaches to healing
trauma have validity, and can be integrated for a
healing of not just psyche or spirit, but psyche AND
spirit." -- Barbara Braham
