Feeling your way through life is a learned
response. It is a gut level embracing of the flow of
life's energy, a disordering of our attempts to make
sense out of all we experience.
Trusting in the unfolding nature of real living can be a
foreign way of being. Experimenting with an
unstructured way of moving through daily
activities often creates resistance to any form of
alleged
chaos, which the mind feels compelled to put into
order. However, even if for only one hour, giving up an
obsessive fixation on your list of things to do, your
planner, or your palm pilot can be a fun
new method of mind control!
All this boils down to the practice of living in the
present moment. When we are in the moment, we
are existing and feeling
the oneness of the universe. The past and
future are the domain of the dual nature of the
space/time components of physical
life experience. The past and future can feel like
boring prospects when
compared to the beauty of the moment.
Lately, I've taken to watching my dogs'
behavior and have observed the symbology of duality
in their
approach to a daily schedule. Cleo needs her
structure and lives comfortably in the dual world. I like
to compare her to the left side of my brain -- the
rational, ordered, logical mode of thinking. Carly on
the other hand, represents the moment to moment
magic of the right brain. She loves the imagery that
life brings in each sensation and feeling of the next
new moment.
This past week I had my kitchen floors resurfaced.
The hardwood was sanded to remove the old
varnish and three coats of shiny lacquer were
applied. The floors look fantastic and brand new
again after fifteen years of wear. All through the
process, Carly was curious by the sound of the
sanding machines, the smell of the varnish and the
plastic sheeting put up between the doorways. Cleo
became increasingly agitated. By the week's end,
Cleo refused to come out of her crate in the mornings
and growled at even those of us who love her so
much! She was clearly disturbed in the disruptive
change to her daily schedule, where Carly was
fascinated. This same event elicited two different
responses from my pets, which led me to perceive
their behavior from purely the symbology it displayed.
Resistance to whatever life brings in the present
moment is the source of our dismay and
agitation. The present moment is always there,
always presenting change and unfoldment, but our left
brain, the order of Cleo, puts up so many defenses,
whereas the right brain's chaos of Carly embraces the
fresh new moment with relish and wonder.
Why do we resist feeling our way through life? Why
must we think and continually try to create order out of
the chaotic flow of energy that the universe presents?
Why must we continually feel the pain of resistance?
Let Go -- Jump In --What are you waiting for? --
It's all
right. --Cause there's beauty in the breakdown. --It's all
amazing here!
These lyrics from "Let Go" by Frou Frou have
played in my mind this past month. Excuse me, are
you too busy writing your tragedy?, she sings. There
is so much beauty in the breakdown of the routine, the
safe haven within the crate's four walls of a tragically
ordered life. Explore the bubble wrap, and pop your
pre-existing sideshow of a life! Let go for there is no
time for later. You have only 20 seconds to comply!
It's really all right -- jump, seek, find the beauty in the
breakdown. These song lyrics free me and make me
smile with each present moment.

I Am.
I Am freeing myself of structure.
I Am feeling my way into life.
I Am writing no more tragedy.
I Am exploring the beauty in the breakdown.
I Am finding the wonder of the chaos.
It is so amazing here!
Come on!

Landings, The Spiritual Return to Living Fully in the Body |

Traumatized by past sexual abuse, Jesse lives in a
world torn apart. Unknown aspects of her character
take charge whenever she feels threatened and split
away from awareness of her whole self. Having
survived into adulthood with dissociative disorder, she
now teeters on unstable ground, which may crumble
descending her to the loss of her marriage, sanity,
and life. Rose, an enigmatic healer whose lineage
traces back to the mystical teachings of Mary
Magdalene, enters Jesse's ordinary worldview
revealing the transformative realm of spiritual healing.
Together with the skill of psychologist Dr. William
Blackburn, these healers assist in reuniting the
shattered elements of Jesse's soul, teaching her how
to integrate her heart, mind, body, and spirit.
Here is an New excerpt from Landings
A vision began to take shape, projected from a
camera-like lens that opened at her third eye. What
was she seeing? It seemed to be history, maybe the
history of the world? She wondered at all that was
being revealed to her. Perhaps, finally after all her
study and inquiry, she would be gifted with
knowing and understanding the meaning of human
existence. But no, this wasn't global history she was
witnessing, it was her story, the story of her many lives
and lessons. The people and places animated by her
vision soon fell into shadow and all she could see
now was the sun, sparkling orange and beautiful as it
set on a western horizon. Before the sun slipped
behind the mountains awash in its brilliance, Jesse
heard a voice speaking to her, as if it were emanating
from the last bars of sunlight that streaked the sky.
"It is your role in life to embody the mysteries, so that
one day you can become the still lake, filled with the
waters of true
wisdom. Life is the
embodiment of the archetypal energies, every emotion
and experience of the
cycle of seasons. Born into a world you could not
explain, you searched for
meaning to your lonely dream. You embarked on a
mythic journey chosen
by your soul. But once embodied, you listened to
countless stories expressed
with intent to give meaning to life, and you believed in
those stories, and abandoned your myth. Like most
humans, you fear mystery and so you
rejected your birthright to personally reveal your life 's
meaning. You are
the one true storyteller of the dream woven by your
Mythic Soul. To follow another's storyline is a rejection
of the aspect of you
that is me.
"You want to put a face and a personality on me, to
write a story of my comings and goings, but I have only
ever wanted you to live your own story. You want to
explain me, conceptualize me, label me, and control
me. But I
am only Source, the place from which you came and
the place to which you
will one day return as a drop of water merging into the
sea of my eternal consciousness.
"Life is a journey where first you experience
your body and mind and you decide that your being is
comprised of body and mind, solely. A day comes
when you are baptized by water and your spirit
awakens to the guardian, a spiritual advisor, and you
then believe that the outer reflection of spirit is your
guide. You come to understand that spirit is guiding
you from a place called heaven. Farther down the
road a great wind baptizes you with the breath of spirit
and you awaken to the fresh air of your soul and
realize that truly, you are spirit. At last the road brings
you to the baptism of fire, and you rejoice in the
knowledge that you are one with the soul of God. This
path of initiation from belief to truth is a process of
dying and rising. For resurrection is the revelation of
what truly is and will
always be."
Resurrection is the return to your original nature.
